What is Santa Train?

During the ride, Santa and Mrs. Claus visit with all of the children on the train.  Bring your camera and have your picture taken with them.

And bring your letter to mail in Santa's Mailbox.

Take US-93 south toward Boulder City.  After passing the traffic light at Veterans Memorial Drive, proceed 0.7 miles to Yucca Street (just past the Taco Bell).  Turn left onto Yucca Street. The train station for the Nevada Southern Railway is on your right.  Parking is available adjacent to the station.

How do we get there?

What about Tickets?

Tickets are $5 per seat (child carrier counts as a seat)
No strollers allowed on the train

What are the departure times?

Departures are at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00

Boarding begins 15 minutes before departure (the line often begins forming at least 30 minutes before departure)

On the day of departure, the ticket booth will open at 9:00 AM.
Tickets for each time for that day will be sold, first-come first-choice.

Tickets are for a specific day and departure time only.
There are no assigned seats.  Seat selection is first come first choice, so be at the train at least 15 minutes before the time on your ticket.  The line begins forming at least a half hour before departure time.

Are the cars heated?

There will be five passenger cars on the train.  Two Pullman Coaches are heated and have plush seats.
The Dining Car is heated and will have chairs at tables.
The Lounge (wheelchair accessable) Car is heated and will have folding chairs (which can be
                    removed to accomodate wheelchairs).
The Open Air Car has bench seats and is open on the sides - dress warmly.

What can we do while we're waiting?

Ride NSRM 503

Our recently upgraded (new park bench seats) #503 observation car will take a few dozen people at a time for a ride up into our storage yard.  This "bone yard" is the home for all of our unrestored equipment.  The ride is free, but your all volunteer crews always welcome donations to assist with our restoration projects.

See the EUREKA, built in 1875, running

There is a short section of narrow gauge track parallel to our standard gauge track.  During the four days of Santa Train, the beautiful narrow gauge wood fired steam locomotive EUREKA will be doing demonstration runs (sorry, no riders).

In the shop (across Yucca Street from the station), see the model train displays

The Toy Train Operator's Society will have model train layouts in the workshop (across the street from the station), and in a railcar in which they have built a large "East Coast to West Coast" Lionel layout.

Take family photos in Santa's Sleigh

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on the train, so they will leave their sleigh at the station so that you can sit in it and take your family photos.

Lower Parking Lot (south of the station) see the Live Steam model trains operating

The Nevada Southern Live Steamers will be operating their scale model steam locomotives.  Pictured is a coal fired unit.  The tracks are 7.5" gauge (space between the insides of the rails) and 1.5" scale (every 12" of full size locomotive is reduced to 1.5").
