Bridge 1st Run

Chuck at the Throttle

Bonnie gets a ride

These are not model trains but working replicas of the real thing!  Scaled so that 1½" equals 1 foot on the large train.

The kiddies love these trains! Rides are free every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month (except July & August when

it is just too hot!).

(Donations are accepted to enable us to grow and add more equipment).

Welcome to the home page of the Friends of the Nevada Southern Railway Live Steamers. We are a 1.5" scale 7.5" gauge live steam railroad operating at the Nevada Southern Railway, with the purpose of educating the public on the days gone by of steam railroading.

In April of 2011 a group of members from the Friends presented the idea of building a 1.5" scale railroad in the Museum's lower lot, and with the blessing of the Friends and the State the "Friends of the Nevada Southern Railway Live Steamers" was born. Almost a year later 2200 feet of track has been laid, a steaming bay setup has been constructed for starting steam locomotives and a passenger station area has been completed for public trains. All of this was done by a very hard working crew of Friends volunteers.

Run days open to the public are scheduled for the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month (except July & August), and for special events. Steam locomotives may not be available on every run day. Other locomotives may be substituted as necessary.
