Meeting was called to order by President-Sam Mauro at 8:30 am

Report from President Sam Mauro:

Sam Mauro announced his resignation from the Friends Group as President.

George Cheri will take his place as President until the next election.

The Friends Group has received their official papers of incorporation from the State of Nevada, but they have not received their paperwork for their Federal ID # from the federal government.

Don Kyle is supposed to get in contact with Sam’s accountant, Jay Booth, to get all the needed paperwork for the tax exemption.

Since the Friends Group does not have their Federal ID they cannot proceed with their request for a grant from Union Pacific, even though UP did accept their initial request.

The group still needs to decide what format they wish to follow for their membership dues and what type of categories they want to have. They should look at the Northern Nevada Friends Group for examples.

The group needs to have a running list of what needs to be repaired. Ask Greg to agree to which cars are to be restored and what money is available for repairs.

Ask US Post Office if they would like to donate money for the restoration of the RPO car.

·   Bob Freedman asked when the Friends Group will start raising money.

·   Sam Mauro replied that they should wait until they have the Federal ID number and checking account in place.

·   Jim Potvin stated that he is very discouraged about all the trash along the tracks.

·   Laura Henning stated that she would call the police department to ask them to add the Museum to their roster as one of the suggested facilities for people to perform their community service.

Bob Freedman motioned to close meeting

Chuck Brandt seconded

Meeting adjourned at 9:00 am

Report from President Sam Mauro:

President Sam Mauro announced his resignation. He will be moving back to New Jersey due to the passing of his mother-in-law. George Cheri will take his place as president until the next general election.

The board may wish to review the position of secretary since Don Kyle is not able to attend most of the board meetings.

The Friends Group has their official documents from the State of Nevada but they have not completed the necessary paperwork for the Federal ID number. Once that is in place they will set up the checking account, membership dues, have fund raisers and recruit new members.

The work on the Locomotive #1855 has not been completed, because they are waiting for replacement filters.

·   Bob Freedman asked if they would start a rotation program of engines once the #1855 is repaired.

·   Jim Potvin state that the #1000 needs to be worked on, it is a fire hazard from all the oil and fuel leaks. It should be worked on after the #1855 is completed.

·   LocoDoc’s contract was discussed. Questions were raised as to whether or not NSRM has a maintenance contract with LocoDocs; if the work that was completed by LocoDocs on the #1000 had a warranty, and finally was the work completed by LocoDocs on the #1000 and #844 signed off on.

·   Bill Milliorn asked about which locomotives would be restored next. He offered to work on the Davenport. He also asked if there is water and 220 electric at the new display pavilion.

·   George Cheri stated that he would be painting the doors of the #1855 on Wednesday.

·   Bill Milliron stated that the train has not been maintained and it needs to have a thorough cleaning inside and out.

·   George Cheri stated that we need to purchase 5 gallons of safety yellow paint.

·   Bob Freedman asked: If the volunteers will start rotating the engines after the #1855 is completed.

·   Jim Potvin replied: The #1000 needs to be worked on because it is a fire hazard from all the oil and fuel that has leaked out all over it.

·   Jim Potvin asked if there is a warranty for the work done on the #1000 last year from LocoDocs.

·   It was decided that a proposal of new repairs needs to be put together for Greg to review.

·   Jim Potvin will write up the proposal.

Next meeting will be on September 11, 2007, executive session at 8:30 am and general session at 9:00 am.
